The Bracken Ridge Road upgrade stage two project at Bracken Ridge is part of the Lord Mayor Campbell Newman’s Road Action Program - an unprecedented infrastructure investment that fast tracks 15 years of road works into just four years. The program delivers traffic congestion reduction, increased safety and improved access across Brisbane’s road network.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Brisbane City Council will commence construction on stage two of the Bracken Ridge Road upgrade on 11 January 2010. The upgrade will take approximately six months to complete, weather permitting. This stage aims to increase the traffic handling capacity of Bracken Ridge Road, reduce delays and improve road safety between Lot Street and Norris Road.
Stage one of the Bracken Ridge Road upgrade project, completed in August 2009, involved an upgrade of Bracken Ridge Road between Barfoot Street and Norris Road.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
-
upgrading Bracken Ridge Road between Lot Street and Norris Road from two to four lanes
-
improving safety and reduce delays along this section of Bracken Ridge Road
-
reinstating the pedestrian refuge outside the indoor sports centre on Bracken Ridge Road
-
installing a landscaped centre median
-
installing kerb and channel, and drainage
-
planting a number of trees and landscaping between Bracken Ridge Road and the service road.
IMPACTS TO MOTORISTS AND LOCAL RESIDENTS DURING CONSTUCTION

standard work hours are be between 7am and 5pm Monday to Saturday

some night works may also be required to minimise traffic delays
-
some temporary traffic changes including lane closures will be required to allow the work to be completed
-
the speed limit through the work area will be reduced to 40km/h and traffic controllers will be onsite to assist motorists as necessary
-
some traffic delays may be experienced during peak periods.
