Brisbane City Council is currently working on the first stage of the Tilley Road extension at Manly West. This project is part of the Manly West traffic improvement projects.
Background
Tilley Road extension is a five-stage project that will ultimately see Port of Brisbane Motorway linked to Old Cleveland Road through a single direct north-south connection. The extension:
- is part of Council’s Transport Plan for Brisbane 2008-2026
- will feature four traffic lanes (two in each direction)
- will be designed to safely carry some volume of heavy vehicles.
The connection between Manly and Wondall roads has been identified as the first logical stage of this project. This stage has been divided into two phases:
- stage 1A will involve upgrading Manly Road/Hargreaves Road intersection
- stage 1B will involve constructing a new arterial road between Manly and Wondall roads, using the existing section of Hargreaves Road that connects to Manly Road.
Timing for future sections of the Tilley Road extension will depend on budget allocation. Community consultation will be completed on future sections of the project prior to work commencing.
