Brisbane City Council is pleased to announce that the upgrade to the intersections of New Cleveland Road and Tilley Road and New Cleveland Road and Dianthus Street in Gumdale are now complete.
Background
The project commenced in October 2008 and has been completed within schedule in November 2009.
New Cleveland Road provides a significant connection between Brisbane's bayside and southeast suburbs. The intersection upgrades have significantly improved safety and access for motorists and pedestrians through the area.
Project features
The upgrade involved:
- installing traffic signals at both intersections
- upgrading New Cleveland Road from one lane to two lanes in each direction through both intersections
- widening Tilley Road and Dianthus Street
- installing traffic islands to safely separate traffic on all legs of both intersections
- installing right-turn lanes on all approaches of both intersections
- providing signalised pedestrian crossings on all legs of the intersection except the west leg of New Cleveland Road at Dianthus Street
- installing kerbside bicycle stand-up lanes on all approaches of both intersections.
