The Moorak Street and Walker Street intersection upgrade at Taringa is part of the Lord Mayor Campbell Newman’s Road Action Program - an unprecedented infrastructure investment that fast tracks 15 years of road works into just four years. The program delivers traffic congestion reduction, increased safety and improved access across Brisbane’s road network.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Brisbane City Council is pleased to announce the completion of the Moorak Street and Walker Street intersection upgrade project at Taringa.
The project involved upgrading the existing signal-controlled intersection between Moorak Street and Walker Street.
This important upgrade aims to increase traffic handling capacity, provide safer turning facilities, reduce delays and improve road safety.
WHAT ARE THE FEATURES AND BENEFITS?

A right-turn pocket from Moorak Street to Walker Street controlled by a signalised turning arrow

A left-turn lane from Walker Street to Moorak Street controlled by a signalised turning arrow

New signalised pedestrian crossings have been installed on the northern and western sides of the intersection

Parking restrictions in Moorak Streets to allow this section of the intersection to operate safely and more effectively

A u-turn facility in Montrose Road to provide local access for cars only

On-road bicycle lanes for cyclists and new footpaths for pedestrians.
