The Nudgee Road project comprising upgrades to three intersections on Nudgee Road, Hamilton, was recently completed as part of Lord Mayor Campbell Newman’s Road Action Program which tackles Brisbane’s 21 worst congested roads.
Project details
The Nudgee Road Project involved three intersection upgrades.
Nudgee Road and Hampden Street
At the intersection of Nudgee Road and Hampden Street, the kerb was realigned on both sides of Nudgee Road and a pedestrian refuge constructed to improve pedestrian safety and access.
Nudgee Road and Hants Street
The Nudgee Road and Hants Street intersection upgrade involved the installation of traffic lights and signalisation of the pedestrian crossing, including a dedicated right-turn lane from Nudgee Road into Hants Street. The upgrade has improved safety for motorists and pedestrians and helped reduce congestion.
Nudgee Road and Kingsford Smith Drive
The Nudgee Road and Kingsford Smith Drive intersection upgrade comprised the lengthening of the slip-lane for the left turn from Nudgee Road into Kingsford Smith Drive, improving traffic flow at this major intersection and reducing congestion.
The Nudgee Road project upgrades were completed in March 2009.
