Brisbane City Council is upgrading Beenleigh Road, between Stiller Drive and Millers Road at Kuraby to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety for all road users.
Project features
The Beenleigh Road upgrade – Stiller Drive to Millers Road project will provide enhanced traffic infrastructure to service the needs of the growing area.
The upgrade will:
- widen Beenleigh Road from Stiller Drive to Millers Road to four lanes
- install a new set of traffic lights at the Beenleigh Road/Stiller Drive/Pioneer Drive intersection
- provide a new westbound indented bus bay on Beenleigh Road
- provide on-road cycling lanes and continuous pedestrian footpaths.
Project timing
Construction commenced in January 2010 and will take approximately six months to complete, weather permitting.
Construction impacts
- Two-way access on Beenleigh Road will be maintained for most of the works however some temporary lane closures and diversions will be required.
- Traffic speed through the work area will be reduced to 40km/h.
- Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist motorists as necessary.
- Motorists should expect some minor delays when travelling through the area.
